The Balance of Payments Current Account, which includes the Balance of Trade, but also includes the balance of various financial payments such as rents, profits paid abroad, bank transfers etc., had the worst ever deficit with the EU in 2016.

The Balance of Trade with the EU was disastrous in 2016 and the worst ever recorded. The Trade Deficit in last 12 months was £82 billion. Trade Deficits directly reduce GDP. The Trade Deficit with the EU reduced UK GDP by 4%.
