Why are people still pressing for more migration?

The UK population is growing by over 500,000 a year.  The growth is entirely due to migration (see Note 1).  By 2070 the UK population will have grown by 26 million to about 90 million people.  This will destroy nearly all the open countryside* in England except for the National Parks:

Illustration of the effect of continued growth

How do you imagine this huge growth in population? Think of your street and imagine half of it being duplicated and placed in local countryside, now do the same with all the streets of England.

The roads will be full, the tube will be crammed, rentals will be sky high.  There will be no peace.  Nowhere will you be able to stand in a field and hear the wind and the birds without the hum of traffic and people.  The wildlife will have been exterminated on a massive scale.  The UK is running out of water, both for people and for wildlife due to river overuse.  If global warming is as bad as some predict there will be famine and disaster.

However, less than 10% of the country will be totally covered with buildings and roads so the insane will maintain that all those motorway verges will still be available and there will even be fields between the motorway and railway.

A work permit system is easily implemented, used by most countries, and is always better for the economy than migration.  Yet the Labour Party and Liberal Democrats say there should be no constraint on migration. The Greens even say there should be no constraint on migration.  Young people are ganging up to demand there should be no constraint on migration.  They all declare that constraining migration is evil. The road to hell is paved with virtue signalling.

Migration to the UK will stop by 2070 because England will have become too overcrowded and awful.  The selfish mobile Students, Academics and Islington Labour voters who deliberately overpopulated England will move out to New Zealand or some other place where there is still room.

The demand for foreign workers is always framed in terms of immigration when it should be framed in terms of work permits with return to country of origin.  Government and business are deliberately swelling the population.  It makes you despair.  Have they all gone mad or am I just eccentric for believing that a well governed country should plan to be calm with room for natural beauty and wildlife and space for people?

Note 1: UK Population Growth is Entirely due to Migration

Everyone has heard that "Net Migration" is about 300,000 a year.  Net migration is the difference between immigration (people entering the UK) of about 600,000 a year and emigration (people leaving the UK) of about 300,000 a year.  The UK population is growing by about 500,000 a year so if all immigration ceased and 600,000 people ceased coming, then the population would be declining by 100,000 a year.  The situation is slightly more complicated than this, as is described below, but the message is clear: all UK population growth is due to migration.

The high migration was government policy, starting 1997, continued by Tories.

In the absence of any immigration and emigration the UK population would be stable:

Annual Population Growth Without Migration
The chart above highlights that if migration were to cease tomorrow then the UK population would cease to grow. All UK population growth is due to immigration.

However mass migration is happening, "...199,883 live births (25.7% of total live births) in the UK in 2014 were to mothers born outside the UK." ONS Overview of the UK population: February 2016 so the rate of births greatly exceeds deaths:

Excess of births over deaths per year

Migration causes the excess of births over deaths in the UK.  However, population growth is also directly due to immigration.

"The population of the UK reached 65.1 million (65,110,000) in mid-2015, with a 95% confidence interval of plus or minus 0.2%. In the year to mid-2015 the population of the UK increased by 513,300 (up 0.8%).

The increase was driven by net international migration of 335,600 and natural change (births minus deaths) of 171,800. Other changes of 5,800 made up the remaining increase."Population Estimates for UK, England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland: mid-2015

Notice that the ONS conveniently hides the 600,000 immigrants per year in the "net migration" figure and hides almost 200,000 births to immigrants (all of the "natural change") so that deliberate overpopulation can continue.

The Strain on the NHS and the Education system is heavily related to annual immigration, obviously the 600,000 people entering the UK have made no contribution to healthcare or education services in the year of entry.  600,000 is a huge number.  See Migration, Education and NHS for how migration is straining the NHS and education services.

*  Green on the map represents areas with less than 50 people per square kilometre, 130 per square mile.  There are vast areas of the EU (most of France and Spain and much of Poland for instance), that still have immense areas of open land, those who favour migration should argue that these areas should be filled with refugees before any move to the UK.

The Falklands have always been Argentine - Las Malvinas son Argentinas

"The Falklands have always been Argentine" is taught to every Argentine child as a matter of faith.  What was Argentina during the time when it "always" possessed Las Malvinas?  In this article I will trace the history of Argentina in the context of its physical and political relationship with "Las Malvinas", the Falkland Islands.  The Argentine claim to the Falkland Islands dates from a brief episode in 1831-32 so it is like Canada claiming the USA despite two centuries of separate development. This might sound like ancient history but Argentina has gone to war for this ancient claim so the following article is well worth reading. For a summary of the legal case see: Las Malvinas: The Legal Case Argentina traces its origins to Spanish South America when it was part of the Viceroyalty of the Rio del Plata.  The Falklands lay off the Viceroyalty of Peru, controlled by the Captain General of Chile.  In 1810 the Falklands were far from the geographical b

Practical Idealism by Richard Nicolaus Coudenhove-Kalergi

Coudenhove-Kalergi was a pioneer of European integration. He was the founder and President for 49 years of the Paneuropean Union. His parents were Heinrich von Coudenhove-Kalergi, an Austro-Hungarian diplomat, and Mitsuko Aoyama, the daughter of an oil merchant, antiques-dealer, and huge landowner family in Tokyo. His "Pan-Europa" was published in 1923 and contained a membership form for the Pan-Europa movement. Coudenhove-Kalergi's movement held its first Congress in Vienna in 1926. In 1927 the French Prime Minister, Aristide Briand was elected honorary president.  Personalities attending included: Albert Einstein, Thomas Mann and Sigmund Freud. Figures who later became central to founding the EU, such as Konrad Adenauer became members . His basic idea was that democracy was a transitional stage that leads to rule by a new aristocracy that is largely taken from the Jewish "master race" (Kalergi's terminology). His movement was reviled by Hitler and H

Membership of the EU: pros and cons

5th December 2013, update May 2016 Nigel Lawson, ex-Chancellor of the Exchequer,  recently criticised the UK membership of the EU , the media has covered his mainstream view as if he is a bad boy starting a fight in the school playground, but is he right about the EU? What has changed that makes EU membership a burning issue?  What has changed is that the 19 countries of the Eurozone are now seeking political union to escape their financial problems.   Seven further EU countries have signed up to join the Euro but the British and Danish have opted out.  The EU is rapidly becoming two blocks - the 26 and Britain and Denmark.   Lawson's fear was that if Britain stays in the EU it will be isolated and dominated by a Eurozone bloc that uses "unified representation of the euro area" , so acting like a single country which controls 90% of the vote in the EU with no vetoes available to the UK in most decisions.  The full plans for Eurozone political union ( EMU Stage
