A transgender rugby player who plays for a female team has caused World Rugby to review its policy on transgender participants in the sport. The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland has already noted that women's sport was discriminatory
but this was "necessary, reasonable and proportionate" for the
continuation of female athletics. If separate
women's activities are to continue it must be accepted that separate
activities are discriminatory under Equality Legislation but, for some reason, exempted from enforcement of the law.
The logic of the Equality Legislation is that men cannot run public men-only clubs and women cannot run women-only clubs. This applies to all public clubs, whether sporting clubs such as golf clubs or football clubs. So how has women's football, rugby, cricket etc. come into being at a National Level? Surely it is discriminatory and illegal. An International Court has even ruled that it is indeed discriminatory to divide sport by sex.
The logic of the Equality legislation means that disability, race, religion, transgender identity and sexual orientation are protected characteristics. Able bodied people who consider themselves disabled should be able to play in the paralympics, white people should be able to join organisations that defend the position of black people, and atheists should not be excluded from the Muslim Council of Britain.
The only thing that stops these absurdities from occurring is that there are no pressure groups willing to take Muslims, women, disabled people etc. to court. The Equality legislation works for those with support from the mass media but not for everyone else. This shows that the Equality legislation is a tool of certain sectors of society and not for the public good.
Equality legislation is a political tool framed so that even to criticise the Equality legislation by, for instance, saying of a transgender boxer that "this bloke should not be in women's heavyweight boxing" would be a criminal offence under the legislation. The legislation gags its critics. What sort of democracy passes laws that are beyond criticism?
If we had a mass media that was not invested in ID politics this horrific attack on democracy would never have happened. ID politics is wonderful for the media because it can run salacious programs on sex change and polarise the population into emotion laden groups and this sells broadcasting time. The fact that ID politics is a political waste of breath because it does not alter the real world for the vast majority of people is a huge plus for the Corporate bosses and advertisers. The last thing the large Corporates want is a mass media that asks serious questions.
PS: the transgender "community" consists of about 1% of the UK population.
