Good news for once! In 2012 it looked as if the world was destined for a dangerous meltdown of the arctic ice, perhaps resulting in huge amounts of methane release and Armageddon within a few years. This has not happened and is now unlikely to happen for a decade or more, if at all:
The orange line in the graph above is the 2014 arctic sea ice volume. There is now more ice in the arctic than there has been for years.
This just goes to show how difficult it is to predict global changes. The moral of this story is that no matter how "good" a global prediction might appear it is always dangerous to bet money on it. For example, at the moment it looks like the global economy is entering a predicted, long term decline, it probably is doing this but I would be very wary about betting on it.
