If it is ever decided that the inhabitants of the Falkland Islands should be subjected to colonization, who should be awarded the colony?
Argentina claims the Falklands because they were part of the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata. Is this true? In 1772 the Falklands were part of the Viceroyalty of Peru in 1774 were part of the Viceroyalty of Rio de la Plata and in 1812 became part of the lands of the Captaincy General of Chile (The Viceroyalty of Rio de la Plata was finished).
In 1818 the Falkland Islands became part of the Republic of Chile, but also claimed by Spain. According to the South American legal principle of uti possidetis juris, Chile owns Las Malvinas and has the colonization rights.
In 1820 the Falklands were claimed by the United Provinces, in 1829 were claimed by the rogue state of Buenos Aires and in December 1832 were occupied by the British. The existing inhabitants claim the right of original settlement - they are effectively indigenous and have a non-hispanic culture and language so are ready for South American colonization.
The Falklands have always been Argentine - Las Malvinas son Argentinas
